Las Olas Art Fair: March 7th Saturday & 8th Sunday, 2009

Swing by, if you can. My art booth will be at the 21st Annual Las Olas Art Fair Part II on Saturday March 7 or Sunday 8, 2009, Show Hours are 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM on both days, with no fees. The hardest part will probably be the parking. I hear there are parking garages around. Parking on streets might be possible only if you are driving a police car on that day.

Surfside Arts Festival: March 14th Saturday & 15th Sunday, 2009

I will exhibit on this venue too! This one starts at 11AM (more doable time for weekend) and ends at 6 PM. It is at 95th Street & Collins Avenue in Surfside.

Key Biscayine Art Festival: March 21th Saturday & 22nd Sunday, 2009

And, I will also be at Key Biscayine Art Festival.

(Temporarily) Obsessed with Soap Dishes: So Much Fun, So Much Work!

I didn’t know soap dish making was going to be a lot of work. Since I never worked 3-dimentional with resin, I became obsessed with innovating soap dish making for a few weeks. It’s fun to make them, but it is more time consuming than it appears to be. Since I am not using molds, every single dish is different from others, but it consumed me a bit, so I made 9 dishes and decided to stop the production for now. Two of local homemade soap artisans are now selling those for me together with their soaps at green markets.

Speaking of green, this work series is considered to be green art because the only bought materials are resin and sparkles. Everything else in the soap dishes are found objects – objects found in my “packrat inventory.” I want people consider the resin dishes as unique bathroom deco, not as apparatus to hold soaps. They are perfect for bathroom because they are water proof, easy to clean, and do not break. You can see more images in my blog, SubjectiveArt.com. I already sold one dish.
